Hey guys,
I've been waiting all month to post this!
As you may or may not know, last Saturday, I celebrated my 17th birthday with some of my closest friends. This outfit was so last minute I am surprised it actually came together in the end.
Simplicity is KEY regarding this look.
As you may or may not know, last Saturday, I celebrated my 17th birthday with some of my closest friends. This outfit was so last minute I am surprised it actually came together in the end.
Simplicity is KEY regarding this look.
This outfit was inspired by a mixture of Boho, some of my favourite Instagram users (to list a few: Sandra Lambeck and Madelinemercedes) as well as my new found obsession with suede.
My original plan was to pair a Velvet Plunge Neck Bodycon dress from Boohoo price at £18
But having tried it on the day of delivery, I realised that it was about 3" too short and showed more cleavage than I was willing to put out. I would say for certain occasions this dress may be appropriate, but I would not recommend pairing it up with over-the-knee-high boots.
I accessorised very lightly, only wearing a purple, crystal Gold chain necklace by Forever 21. I purchased it a couple of months ago but I believe I saw it in the Stratford Forever 21 branch prices -if I remember accurately- at £3.99. As much as I love simplicity, I think the outfit could have done with an arm cuff or similar arm accessory.
You can find this Faux suede V-neck Dress in any Forever 21 store priced at £23. The dress has a shift silhouette, so is more modest/casual in comparison to my original outfit choice

I am 5"7 wearing a size Small. As far as I know, Forever 21 only sells this particular dress in one colour, but there are other -quite similar- dresses being sold in Tan and Black.
I find dresses with pockets quite useful, especially if you decide against wearing a clutch or a bag as you can store essential items (e.g. travel card, bank card and money)
When styling over-the-knee boots I would strongly suggest going with something quite loose or baggy, solely because such boots have a certain stigma attached to them so something along the lines of an A-line skirt or a mini dress would look quite nice as you can show off how lengthy your legs look, but also maintain some modesty and casualness for future styling.
The boots I am wearing are Black faux suede 'Hope over-the-knee boots' from Public Desire. I was unsure of what size to order as often heeled footwear without platform may be uncomfortable or smaller as there is a larger foot arch, but having tried these I would advise you order your true size. I am wearing a size six -my size- and there was a perfect fit. The boots were priced at £39.99 but using my promo code (expiring 14.03.2016) you could get up to 10% off your order: SONEW
Despite having quite a high block heel, the boots were quite comfortable to wear throughout the night, but I would recommend wearing a pair of really soft socks or having a back-up pair of shoes e.g. slippers as after a couple of hours, naturally your feet may begin to ache.
This OOTD will soon be followed shortly by a Story-time about how the day went.
Hope you enjoyed this post xx
