Birthday OOTD

Hey guys,

I've been waiting all month to post this!
As you may or may not know, last Saturday, I celebrated my 17th birthday with some of my closest friends. This outfit was so last minute I am surprised it actually came together in the end.

Simplicity is KEY regarding this look.

This outfit was inspired by a mixture of Boho, some of my favourite Instagram users (to list a few: Sandra Lambeck and Madelinemercedes) as well as my new found obsession with suede.

My original plan was to pair a Velvet Plunge Neck Bodycon dress from Boohoo price at £18
But having tried it on the day of delivery, I realised that it was about 3" too short and showed more cleavage than I was willing to put out. I would say for certain occasions this dress may be appropriate, but I would not recommend pairing it up with over-the-knee-high boots.

I accessorised very lightly, only wearing a purple, crystal Gold chain necklace by Forever 21. I purchased it a couple of months ago but I believe I saw it in the Stratford Forever 21 branch prices -if I remember accurately- at £3.99. As much as I love simplicity, I think the outfit could have done with an arm cuff or similar arm accessory.

You can find this Faux suede V-neck Dress in any Forever 21 store priced at £23. The dress has a shift silhouette, so is more modest/casual in comparison to my original outfit choice
http://www.forever21.com/UK/Product/Product.aspx?BR=f21&Category=dress_mini&ProductID=2000180555&VariantID=
I am 5"7 wearing a size Small. As far as I know, Forever 21 only sells this particular dress in one colour, but there are other -quite similar- dresses being sold in Tan and Black.
I find dresses with pockets quite useful, especially if you decide against wearing a clutch or a bag as you can store essential items (e.g. travel card, bank card and money)

When styling over-the-knee boots I would strongly suggest going with something quite loose or baggy, solely because such boots have a certain stigma attached to them so something along the lines of an A-line skirt or a mini dress would  look quite nice as you can show off how lengthy your legs look, but also maintain some modesty and casualness for future styling.

The boots I am wearing are Black faux suede 'Hope over-the-knee boots' from Public Desire. I was unsure of what size to order as often heeled footwear without platform may be uncomfortable or smaller as there is a larger foot arch, but having tried these I would advise you order your true size. I am wearing a size six -my size- and there was a perfect fit. The boots were priced at £39.99 but using my promo code (expiring 14.03.2016) you could get up to 10% off your order: SONEW

Despite having quite a high block heel, the boots were quite comfortable to wear throughout the night, but I would recommend wearing a pair of really soft socks or having a back-up pair of shoes e.g. slippers as after a couple of hours, naturally your feet may begin to ache.

This OOTD will soon be followed shortly by a Story-time about how the day went.

Hope you enjoyed this post xx

March Playlist

Hey guys,

Today is really quite exciting! There is literally less than a week until my 17th Birthday!

I would describe this months Playlist as more relaxing and chilled in comparison to some of my previous playlists, this is sue to the fact that I have a lot of Mock exams going on, so I find this kind of music more beneficial to play in the background whilst revising as it doesn't detract from what I am trying to learn.

Phoenix -Fences
Phoenix -Girlfriend
Phoenix -Armistice
Ode to sleep - Twenty one pilots
Lancey Faux- About it
Gallant - Talking In Your Sleep
Gallant - Weight in gold
Nick Jonas - Jealous
Sleeping At Last - Touch
Jai Paul - BTSTU
Jai Paul - Jasmine
Sleeping At Last - Turning Pages
Kodaline - All I Want
Run To Me - Clarence Coffee Jr
Birdy - Not About Angels
Coldplay - Hymn For The Weekend
The Weekend - In The Night
Rihanna - Bitch Better Have My Money
Rihanna diamonds
Rihanna - work

The end of the list, for me, consists of more hype music for when I am getting restless with school work I can get a boost of energy by listening to those songs.

( A little sidenote - surprisingly, despite the fact that I have no clue what she is saying and the song being overplayed, I really like Rihannas' new song 'Work')

Anyway, I've got another quote and picture for you all,
Hmm...HMM..

I think music in itself is healing. It's an explosive expression of humanity. It's something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we're from, everyone loves music

Story Time - "overweight"

Hey guys,

I was recently on YouTube and stumbled across this video, now although I haven't had any personal encounters with weight-related discrimination
I do understand that this is something people of all races, genders and ages have experienced throughout time but -in my opinion- shouldn't have to experience because we are all made differently. I believe that we were all put on this earth with a purpose, so regardless of how you look or how much you weigh, you shouldn't be discriminated against whether you're seen as "too skinny" or "too thick" my personal perspective is that if you feel confident and comfortable with the way you are and the way you look, then no-one should be able to change the way you view yourself.

Now, if you watch YouTube, you are likely to be aware of the upcoming trend called 'Story Time' videos. I love watching YouTubers post their own Story Time Videos despite the fact that I find most of them difficult to relate to (as they are often centred around relationships and boyfriends) so it is only natural that I stumbled across this story.

Before this video, I have never heard of this YouTuber or seen any of her videos, but despite having never been in a relationship, after watching this clip I was truly inspired and -in some ways- motivated to be a better me and hope this will bring you motivation and drive to find self love.

Thanks for reading xx

What I HATE about winter

Hey guys,

If you have been reading my blog for a long time, you will know that my absolute least favourite season is Winter. There are just so many reasons Why to hate and love Winter, but below I'll only be sharing the 5 main reasons why I hate winter:

1. Rain
This includes anything from the constant pitter patter of the raindrops against my rooftop to the wet mess all over the bus floors. I am fully convinced that there is absolutely nothing worse than being out without an umbrella during winter in London. I remember this one time not long ago, I forgot to check the weather before leaving my house, which resulted in me having no umbrella. After school, I began walking towards a nearby McDonald's and it began to rain. You wouldn't believe me when I say that the combination of rain and wind almost blew me into the street four times. By the time I had reached the McDonald's I was soaking wet, the contents of my school bag was also wet as my bag wasn't designed to be zipped, so when it rained all the water was collected in the bag.

2. People, hygiene and getting sick
I'm not sure why a lot of individuals do this, but people think that just because it is Winter and "everyone" has a cold, it is acceptable to sneeze without covering their mouths, or simply just sneeze into their hands and proceed to touch the door handle. Literally, all the teachers in my school are currently sick and therefore the majority of students are currently being taught by a supply teacher (Hmm...I wonder why this happened).

3. Cold seats
I think this is pretty self explanatory. You get up for one second -when you get back your seat is cold

4. Waking up before the sun rises.
Okay, so this is sort of a love hate relationship. There is nothing that motivates me less to get out of bed in the morning than thinking that it is still night time. No sunlight passes through my curtains because it is still dark out but although I hate waking up to a dark morning sky, there's something really therapeutic about being able to watch the sun rise on your journey to school/work.

5. HEATING (or lack of)
This is one that I feel very passionate about. Every so often during the winter months, I would wake up to there being no heat being emitted by our radiators as well as being told that my sister had finished all of the hot water in the shower. The absolute best way to ensure that you arrive at school stressed and irritated is to ensure that you have a lovely ice-cold shower during winter.

This is a collab post with My Life In A Tab, so click the link to see what she loves about Winter!

Anyway, I've got another quote for you all,
Hmm...HMM..

Laughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face.
Victor Hugo

P.s. sorry for the late post, as stupid as this sounds, I thought I had clicked 'publish' before I closed the tab, but I logged on today and realised that I hadn't xx
